Guard persists in mental-health defence in Wiese trial

Security guard Richard Engelbrecht on Tuesday persisted in his defence of ”temporary, non-pathological criminal incapacity” due to his abuse of the drug tik as his trial for the alleged rape and murder of 11-year-old schoolgirl Annestacia Wiese drew to a close.

Mental-health issue delays Wiese trial

The Annestacia Wiese murder trial was postponed on Tuesday for the Cape High Court to rule on an application that the Department of Health provide an expert to testify about the accused’s state of mind. Murder accused Richard Engelbrecht has pleaded guilty to the rape and murder of the 11-year-old Wiese.
