Sudan pardons opponents accused of plot ‘to sabotage’
Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir on Monday pardoned 30 opposition members accused of plotting against the state and ordered their immediate release. ”I have decided to pardon the accused of their attempt at sabotage and I have ordered their immediate release,” Bashir told a large crowd gathered in Khartoum to mark the country’s 52nd anniversary of independence.

Sudan charges politicians in alleged overthrow plot
Sudan has formally charged 28 opposition politicians and army officers with plotting to overthrow the government, more than four months after they were arrested, their supporters said on Monday. The 28, including the head of the opposition Umma Party for Reform and Renewal, Mubarak al-Fadil, were taken from their homes at gunpoint in July.

Southerners suspend work in Khartoum government
The main party in southern Sudan has suspended its participation in the national government until its northern partners reignite a stalled peace process, the secretary general of the party said on Thursday. Pagan Amum of the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) said: ”The SPLM has recalled all ministers and presidential advisers.”
