Scorpions boss to join World Bank

The head of South Africa’s Scorpions crime-fighting unit, Leonard McCarthy, was appointed on Monday to head the World Bank’s anti-corruption unit. World Bank president Robert Zoellick, in a statement, said South African President Thabo Mbeki had agreed to release McCarthy from service to take up the position on June 30.

Reform challenge for chiefs of IMF, World Bank

The new heads at the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund (IMF) face the tough task of restoring credibility to the powerful financial bodies that hold an annual summit this month, analysts say. Negotiations are under way to reform the distribution of votes among the IMF’s 185 members.
