An army of firefighters struggled to contain an explosive wildfire that destroyed at least a dozen luxury homes and threatened as many as 1 000 other houses and businesses on the edge of Nevada’s capital, Carson City. In California a fast-moving fire threatened two rural communities in the Angeles National Forest.
